    Exclamation OFFICIAL THREAD: Internal Memory

When I first got my phone it showed 40+ mb memory. I added and removed a lot of apps...blah blah blah...

Well last night I went through and removed all of the apps that have been added, cleared browser cache and all data, deleted all pix and downloads, cleared call logs, all messages and everything else I could think of. NOW FOR SOME reason the most available internal memory I can get available is 24 MB...Any ides what happened to the other 20+ MB... Once again, NO APPS INSTALLED, all memory and cache cleared, no pix, no messages all logs cleared.

It's a bug in the phone that even though you've cleared up your apps, it doesn't show you the space you gain from it. However, once you get notified that you are running on "low memory space", it will do an auto cache clean up and you will get your space (from the apps you've deleted) back

i might not buy any apps then

imagine paying for apps, then few weeks later better apps are released

hope google can help us enjoy the market place by allowing us to install/launch apps from sd cards

..also the market place may be using up some of your internal memory

How would you get to a low memory alert with apps not installed? Kind of the chicken before the egg eh?

Android Market loves to cache a ton of data and it isn't manually deletable. I'd put my money that's where his memory went.

thats what i think as well, yesterday i received a low memory notification after installing opera mini. prior to that i have had 8-10 mb of free space consistently. i just ignored the low space thing and it went away. for fun i checked my free space and it was up to 20 mb. from there i checked my applications and how much space they were using and my market had gone from 12mb down to 600k.

This was one of the benefits of having a rooted phone... moving the market cache to the sd card. But like the posters have said here, Andy will take care of it for you when you do get low on space, so in reality, it's not "saving" any space.

launch your browser, then clear history, cache, and cookies. That gives me an average of 7 mb extra. Also shut your phone off and power it back on. The memory tends to reappear for me.
