I would like to know more about this.
It was only a matter of time. After the jailbreak there has been many discussion over whether or not to recieve the RC30 update and remove any current ability for root acess. Preventing users from tethering their Android. PDANet has one under development. "I'm on my lunch break i'll send you guys more info later. An article from PDAblast says:By: pdaBlast! StaffT-Mobile G1 users have a bit of news to celebrate. A tethering application is coming to the Android OS. Brighthand is reporting that a representative from PDANet developer June Fabrics has signaled a tethering application is on the way for Android. As a company spokesperson told Brighthand, "we do not support G1 currently. However, we do plan to support it in the future." For those who want to try a tethering app now, check out Tetherbot at the link below. It's not a full blown tethering app but it might do the trick. Their web site says, "this is an experimental SOCKS proxy and Port Bouncer that should allow you to connect your laptop to the internet using the internet connection (EDGE, 3G or Wifi) of your T-Mobile G1 Cellphone."
Article about Tethering APP
Jail break allows root access... RC30 prevents root access... root access is necessary to allow for tethering... until now...
Basically PDANet is developing an app that allows tethering... so in turn... the reason to jailbreak or not get RC30 because of tethering capability is no longer necessary because we will get an app now.. ^^

Ah, so if you installed the OTA RC30 you won't be able to use this ??? I hope this is not the case, as I installed the OTA update![]()
I just got home and updated the info. Hopefully this shed light on the subject. Basically everything we want to do... will be a matter of time... ^^
Tetherbot still works fine with RC30. Getting great speeds.
The beta is finally available. It's free currently and available for download (on a Windows PC only) from http://www.junefabrics.com/android/
I just did the install - part on PC then some on the phone - and it works perfectly.
A shame it doesn't work with 64-bit Vista...![]()
I installed it a couple of days ago. Simple installation but have not had a chance to use it yet.
Using: Samsung Galaxy S 4g on T-Mobile. Firmware 2.2.1
Yes it does. You have to DL the new 64-Bit Version. http://www.junefabrics.com/android/
