    Default Preparing for the Holidays?

So I was sitting here getting ready to head out for my first Holiday Family get together. We celebrate thanksgiving this weekend with one side of the family and the other on the actual holiday.
I was debating on just charging my G1 on the way over there and would that be enough. or should I take the AC charger.
See I have family that work at Sun Micro,Cisco,Intel, and Microsoft.
I am sure like every year they will all turn to me and go ok pull it out?
    Me: What do you mean
Them: The latest and greatest gizmo device we all know you had to have.
    Me: Well if you insist.

And usually after it gets passed around my battery suffers greatly.
Compound this with the after dinner political debate that I pretend to not listen too since I am greatly outnumbered in my beliefs.while i type those important responses to work emails. Or oh man I havent talked to this guy in forever excuse me.

So I was just wondering if I was alone or just plain nuts

    Well something unexpected happened.

My cousin brought her new Blackberry Storm!

    Uh Oh Family Phone Shootout!

Started off with the Keyboard and it was decided that the G1 won for its easier to use keyboard.

Then Email. G1 shot down in flames since I had to disclose the pop3 problems and not very good exchange support if any since i have yet to get it to work with my companies server.

Mapping. The storm got lost in the dust as the G1 knew where i was and I was showing the other mapping features before the Storm even got going.
Then to seal the deal I showed how street view worked on the G1. It was really cool that on the way over there we passed a google street view car. The Kids all waived.
After I got it back from everyone checking out what their house looks like on the street view we continued.

Internet Browser. Well the G1 pretty much won but Verizon was much faster since we were only in an edge coverage area. But everyone agreed the G1 browser laid out pages better.

Then the Storm just kind of faded out as I whipped out the Bubble and Orinteer app. But as software and hardware engineers it was pretty quickly decided that they were pretty much toys because they weren;t accurate at all? I don't know I think they are pretty good.
Shop Savy crowded everyone around then they all split up to scour the house for item with bar codes! Luckily most things scanned were found and showed local and web prices. Go G1

Then finally we made some calls and most agreed the G1 sounded a little better on the other end of the call ( I was not surprised as RIM's always have bad audio quality IMHO)

Camera well lets not go there. Give it to the Storm.

The end result was that the G1 was a cheap feeling phone that looks like it's screen will break off eventually and everyday use is not practical for most because of its lack of basic email functions like exchange. But for the college student or as your personal phone along with your company Blackberry it is excellent.

As for the Battery the Storm was 50% when we left as the G1 was in the red. But the G1 got allot more play because of it cool little apps and the Market. So I called it even

My end synopsis is even though most said it is not very good. Just by the reactions and side conversations about what they could write for this Platform it was a WIN for the G1 Hands Down.
