    Default Questions concernign recovery image

    Hi everyone,
I recently rooted my g1 yesterday and after going through all the motions I currently have the JF 1.5 ROM with the hero 1.3.5 theme. However I'm having two problems:

First off whenever i boot into recovery mode im getting some E: error concerning recovery image (i cant use Alt+B either), Im guessing this means I dont actually have one. So I downlaoded the JFv1.43 and extracted the recovery.img from its data folder, moved it to my sd card (its not in any folders on the sd card), and opened up my terminal and typed in the comamnd to flash it but I get the error that it doesnt exisit.

    su
    flash_image recovery /path/to/recovery.img

Lastly the second issue im having is when i upgrade to JF 1.51. After the upgrade I find myself in an infinite loop of force closes once I reboot. this issue doesnt bother me as much tho since im content with Jf1.5+hero theme , but just curious as to what I did wrong.

Thanks again for any input and forgive my newbness!

Umm.. I am confused over here. You say you can't get into recovery mode, but you can flash updates? Or maybe, you just have the stock recovery image installed? Strange... anyways... the command you are typing is it exactly what you posted? If so, that won't work... You stated the recovery.img is located at the root of the sdcard (not in any directories/folders), so your command would need to be this:

    su
    flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

But, while you are at it, why not download Cyanogen's Modded Recovery 1.2 (it builds upon the JF recovery image with new features). The instructions are located in the thread.

In fact, it could fix your other issue as well, the infinite force closes upon boot can often be solved (without a wipe) using Cyan's fix_permissions script.
