    Default RC33, JF1.42, Haykuro 5.0G and 5.0.1H Comparison Spreadsheet

    Hello All,

I've spent WAY more time than I should this weekend playing with the new Haykuro Sapphire/Magic Operating Systems (OSs) and I'm not convinced there's a clear preference for me yet for the G or the H build. I plan to drive them both daily for a few days each at least and see how they run, but chances are good other updates will come out and cloud the picture again along the way.

In the meantime, I decided to create a spreadsheet with a list of attributes of the various OSs I've used thus far weighted by importance and then scored. A positive attribute gets a positive importance from 1-5 and a negative attribute (like a bug) gets a negative importance from 1-5. Then each OS is scored on how well it delivers on that attribute or how badly it suffers from that bug. An utter absence of an attribute or bug gets a 0 score. Then the score multiplied by the importance results in a weighted score which is then summed to evaluate the OSs comparatively.

All I mean by the way is importance to me, so don't waste your breath or keystrokes trying to convince me that Apps to SD card potential is clearly an "Importance" of 5 when I've only given it a 1. I've never done it, so obviously it's not that important to me, YET. Everything is subject to change.

I plan to change the scores as bugs disappear or get resolved and as my priorities change as well (I'll update the sheet for a little while anyway) in the hopes that I'll eventually settle on the best build for me. I'll also add attributes as they occur to me.

Because I am so entirely thrilled by the presence of A2DP, video recording and copy/paste, I don't think the spreadsheet really properly captures/presents the dramatic difference I feel between JF1.42 and the Haykuro OSs, but I think that is because of the remaining bugs. Once those get worked out, the weighted scores spread will likely be much more significant.

At any rate, I thought that since I'd put some time into creating this comparison that some of you might enjoy seeing it, especially if you're thinking about rooting or flashing to one of the new OSs, etc. Feel free to drop me a line or post a comment if I've made any mistakes about various features (I'm sure I have) or if you think I'm missing something important (ditto).

    Thanks for looking and enjoy!

    _john

Great work... I think this deserves a sticky. It helps out to decide which way you should go. Great Job!

Awesome, thanks! I included a link to the 5.0.1H screenshots, so let me know if you post some 5.0G shots and I'll add a link to those too.

Heyyyy thanks for the info! I went ahead and put H on my device; it's pretty awesome. The video recorder is crazy, and the camera has some new options.
I kinda like the Chinese input lol...

Edit: So I installed the zh-default version because I like the fonts. However... this version is missing a couple of apps (i.e. PDF Reader). I've pulled them out of the other version: http://files.filefront.com/appdiffzi.../fileinfo.html
Edit: Unfortunately, the PDF Reader crashes on the zh-default version. Oh well...
