Ok interested in an upcoming android phone (and no I dont want a physical keyboard!!!) The htc magic looked great until I heard about this samsung I7500 is it true that the samsung will have 8gb of memory compared to htc magic's 500mb? thats a huge difference? spec wise they have same size screen right? how about the processor? Love the trackball on magic which samsung doesnt have ? spec for spec what do you guys think. im still confused on the memory issue thats such a huge difference why wouldnt htc up the memory. plus the camera has flash what are the weakness of the samsung phone . I welcome all thoughts...
im in love with the samsung i7500 and the specs on it put the magic to shame.
yes it does have 8gb of memory which is way more than any other android phone right now...
i think the magic is a waste of time honestly...

im sure the price will be different for each one....making the decision easier for some.
how about touch screen functionality, the touch screen on the samsung behold sucks compared to the g1 do you think samsung has improved in that aspect
thats because the samsung behold and the g1 have totally different touch screen technology.
behold---resistive touch screen (i think)
g1---capacitive touch screen
that doesnt mean the samsung isnt gonna have a capacitive touch screen

THE FASTEST AND EASIEST WAY TO ROOT
Hi xxfirerican...
I've pre-ordered a Magic and did think "ooo" when the Samsung came out a few days later but I'm sticking to the Magic. Here's why...
Firstly, the Samsung's memory is huge in comparison but don't forget the Magic has double the memory of the G1... ok that's still not huge but it must be a big improvement. I can't see an issue as long as you don't fill the phone will useless apps and keep your cache etc nice and clean... which you should do for any device/pc etc really as good practice anyway.
Secondly... network. I want to be on Vodaphone (UK BTW) as it's the best receiption in the rural area I live. I *suspect* the Samsung will end up on O2 ot T-Mobile, and be a bit more expensive. This is of course a personal thing however.
Thirdly...
I could cancel the Magic and wait for a Samsung... say 2 months... but I'll bet you a trackball that the new Sony Paranoid (I made that up Adams fans) will be announced just before the Samsung becomes available. Then you end up with the same conversation again.
Finally... I agree the Samsung is better specced on paper, but it's just a bit of paper at the moment. It may be awful when people get their hands on it. It might be the best phone the world ever. We can't compare side by side yet so my attitude is live in the now, and the best phone for me today is the Magic. AND IMO it's faaaaaaaaar sexier anyway
Hope this helps you make a decision... that was my thought process on the whole thing anwyay. There seems to be a big split in Android forums RE the Magic which I don't really understand. Many say "it's just a G1 without the keyboard with a few minor improvements" but as everyone loves their G1s I'm not sure why that's a bad thing. And I personally would love to see the market flooded with Android phones to make the choice even harder... the more phones out there (good and bad) the better and more established the platform and apps become.
so I just watched a video of the samsung, and I like it... alot.
I think I could live without the physical keyboard, but I was thinking what I might miss the most should I get that phone, is the trackball.
I love that thing.
