cant do it as of now. its made to see recent calls and to dial the last call if hit twice.
The subject says it all. How is this done?

How many times you use dialer when you press dial button??? Call-log works perfect for me as I have everyone in the phonebook already, or the phone numbers I call back are already in - therefore - I think this will not change - or it will change that we will have the setting opn it so we can pick and choose.

That was my logic for removing the dialer shortcut from my...um...desktop?...and just keeping the contacts icon. Still, I feel like I'll be using the dialer more than the call log due to my own habits (which may, in all likelihood, change), so I was just wondering if there was a way.
Probably not important, all things considered, but it would be nice if I could. I guess it's my inner Richard Stallman coming out and demanding freedom and liberty across the GNUniverse.
I have both dialer and contacts on my center screen (pretty redundant to say the least but I like the way my homescreen(s) look.

Two apps shortcut the process. "Anycut" makes direct #'s and sms widgets that sit on you desktop. "Speedial" is a dial by number synced to your contacts and is functional as a dialpad. Hope that helps
The beginning of the reply is absolutely what is obnoxious about this forum. (no offense). Someone comes on here asking for something that THEY PREFER and someone else says that they don't really need it.
JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY DO.
I'm a teacher and I make a lot of phone calls to parents. They aren't my friends so I don't store them in my phone book. I usually have to enter the number in, without it being in my call log, or contacts list or whatever. I don't want to go directly to the history or call log or anything. But either way, THAT IS ME. I just want to be able to see the phone pad asap. Do we really have to justify why we want it a certain way? Can't we imagine that people want it a different way? Why does someone always come on here and say, "I like it how it is or this particulare way and so should you, etc."
But yeah I would like to be able to set it up to hit the green call button and go directly to the phone pad.
What an excellent response. It's easy to see that for the most part, it just isn't practical to enter in the entire student bod contact list each quarter/semester/school year. Although, if it were simpler, and if the numbers could stay out of the way of the other numbers on your phone, would you be interested then? Because in your case, I *might* be tempted. If, and only if the the contact list was already in a spreadsheet that was closely formatted to something I could import into the gmail contact as a separate category, then keep that category hidden on your phone most of the time. But if you have to go and enter the names and numbers yourself, I wouldn't do it. Too much trouble.
That was a very long answer and a slight threadjack. I agree, I think a phone like this should be completely and infinitely customizable. If you want the green button to fire up sudoku, or the dialer, then you should be able to do that. I keep on hitting the red button thinking it will take me to the home screen. I don't know why, and I'll bet I'm not the only one who has done that. Perhaps if I had the option to set it that way, I might actually do that.
