ive had a sprint 6600, 6700, 6800, 6900
and the att iphone 3g
The 3g speeds that im getting in seattle are on par if not faster on the g1.
The iphone's gps was about the same in terms of accuracy.
And dont even get me started about the Samsung Instinct.
Sprints CEO is doing anything to stave off the fleeting customers. And to top it off, they say they dont want the g1 because its not ready yet? The instinct has been plauged by problems from day one. Its funny, i went to a few instinct forums in the last few weeks, its filled with problem after problem, and not just little ones.
But to sprints credit, they neeeeed a top tier phone, that is rock solid, to get back the customers that have been ditching them because of their Sh1tty customer support. Ditching them because of the iphone. Ditching them because of the sub-par business support, our company has 250 sprint phones, and we are dropping them, bc, lack of proper b2b support / service.
Ditching them because of the G2. Ditching them because verizon now has push to talk.
The list keeps getting bigger and bigger.
And their stock keeps going lower and lower.
They were dying before the recession, guess how they are doing during it?
To their credit, they are getting the HTC Touch Pro. Cool phone, yet same old win mo.

They are not getting the G1 because android isn't mature enough, not the G1. Although, I'm sure that's what you meant.
Anyways, if anyone wants real-time GPS, get a Garmin/TomTom. Seriously, it's a phone, at least it tells you where you are and how to get to wherever you want to go.
phone navigation software is just as good if not better imo to a standalone navi unit... sure you can tether your phone to some navigation units to search for things around you using the data capabilities on your phone, but its much simple on having it straight on the phone itself... google never meant to develop a great navigation package, just buy one later on if its a deal breaker for you
Buy the rumor, Sell the news.
I think it's just Sprint wanting to give a kick to T-mobile on the G1 (or G2 even if Sprint delays further) in order to hold sales down so that when they release their own Android phone it'll have more customers left.
sprint is terrible
Sprint sucks.
Oh Well... Sprint's Loss...
I think google maps is great except for not having turn-by-turn announcements.
absolutely correct about GPS! the GPS in your phones is the same as your Garmin's and other nav devices. The difference is that the phone receivers must slow their refresh rate down slightly as to not completely absorb battery life. it still pin-points your position like GPS was intended....
Tip: GPS DOES NOT WORK INSIDE BUILDINGS!!! GPS is GPS, they all work the same.
