I did a sync with the usb cable to outlook. Then exported the contacts to a .csv file and imported that in gmail.
Hello and good day to all you out there in Androidia,
My G1 is on the way, but never being one to miss a beat, I am hoping to switch all of my contacts off of my Blackberry and onto my new GPhone as soon as I possibly can, without manually entering them in my GMail account, or thumbing them into my phone and need some advice.
I have the Blackberry backup file, *.ipd, on my PC but I don't know how to either export that to a more usable format for easy cut and pasting, or maybe just massively sync it to my google account... Ideas?
Note: I can see into the future...it's an...Android application...that does this through email...GENIUS!
Thanks everybody!

I did the same as wicked... synced my bb to outlook then exported the calendar and contacts to .csv format. Imported those into Gmail and it worked like a charm. Now I just need my G1!![]()
Couldn't you just send them to your SIM card? then have the g1 retrieve them?
The problem with saving everything to your sim card is that your sim card will only hold one phone number per contact. so if you have for example a work, home, cell, fax and pager number for someone named Bob you will have "Bob" on your sim card 5 times. also if you have any info like address and birthday's stored under your contacts, that will not transfer to your Sim card. I would sync your Blackberry to Outlook and then save your address as a .csv file and export to your gmail account. that's how I did it when I left my Blackberry.

Can someone please post the instructions to do this correctly as I have some contacts that didnt transfer over and I have about 150 numbers that show up alone withoutbeing attached to names?
Yep. CSV into google. Comma seperated CSV file, go to contacts, import.
Just did it from Thunderbird
Wow, that was easier than I expected
I'm not sure if this would work on your blackberry but I have the tmobile wing and I went to this site and it sync all my contacts and calender events from my phone to my gmail account without downloading any software and also with out plugging my phone to my computer. it transferred everything right from my phone to my gmail account. This was a live saver because I have over 200 contacts. Try it. You have to register from their account and then configure your setting which they tell you how to do. www.nuevasync.com
Hope this helps
