I am excited about the G phone. Where my dismay sets in is the fact that T mobile is the sole carrier at this time. I have been with TM for about 4 years and I am going to abandon ship. The G phone is holding me captive, but I am unwilling to sign a two year agreement. I live in San Francisco and the coverage is poor at best and non existent in some areas.
My advice to anyone out there is once you sign your agreement, get to all the places that you will find yourself using the phone and verify the coverage.
I have found myself more times then I care to remember with a useless phone walking around looking for bars, while others with different carriers are jawboning away.
I use a Blackberry Pearl. I would be curious to see what others have experienced.
I've had tmobile in san francisco for about a year now, and i have no real complaints. i switched solely so i could get an lg prada when it first launched, and i had no problems with it, i then moved on to the lg viewty, again no troubles. but, when i switched over to the sidekick lx, thats when i had my first troubles with the service, trying to get the t zones to work. i was outside, and i could barely hear anything, the representative told me that if i was in an elevator or a building to step close to a window. i told her i was outside, down a block from my house just to be able to hear her. her response was an awkward, "oh." and then checking the coverage in san francisco, and also recently the 3g coverage, there is barely any coverage within the four blocks i live in on 22nd st. annoying. however that was the only time i've had bad service with them, never had a dropped call either. i dont think i'll worry about it too much, if i'm at my house i can either turn on the wi-fi on my g1 or just use my own computer.
