I recently got the tethering to work from Ubuntu over bluetooth. I posted directions and a few helper scripts at: http://joshuaredstone.blogspot.com/2...ubuntu-to.html, though you do need to be able to 'su' to run them. Let me know if it helps.

FYI- I contacted the people at WMWifiRouter which is a program that turns any WM phone into an access point. They said that they are actively exploring developing an android app but no date is certain for release if one will be done.

Yes, I got it working. I wrapped it all up in an application to make it easier. You can download it from here http://www.androidactivity.com/ you still need su access though.

Are you using the updated bluetooth driver or just the regular slow one?

If you haven't locked down your WiFi tethering by MAC address then Bluetooth tethering will be more secure, in that it requires pairing between your phone and your PC and you can protect that with a PIN.

I'd like to know how they compare in terms of battery drain.

I didn't really check, but my guess is he's using the default bluetooth driver, the speed is limited (<80Kb) and has high latency.

You'll need to wait for the newer version to be released if you want any type of good performance, otherwise you're connected at less than edge speeds...
