USB fail

Ever since I got the cupcake update the USB file transfer and headphone adapter haven't been working. I've read about problems with either of these but not both. Any suggestions?

welcome to ac!
i know of the headphone adapter being buggy, along with bluetooth. what do you mean by not work? like it does nothing? or is just acting up? try playing some music with the adapter plugged in, unplug it then plug it back in. might help from what i've heard. there is a headset toggle widget out there somewhere. i've read reports from a few that it works. let me find the link and i'll post it as soon as i find it.
the usb transfer.....that's a new one for me. maybe you could update the usb drivers again? let me know if you need help doing that as well.

Try wiping the phone or a factory reset . Once you sign in to your google account , your contacts will come back . And your apps will also , you will just have to reinstall them . By the way welcome to AC !

How do I add a widget to my phone? I did some reading and so far all I see is that I have to install it by USB connection to my computer, but that doesn't work.

it depends on where you got the widget from. if it's an apk file you downloaded on your pc, you'll have to transfer it to your sdcard and install it with astro or linda file manager. there are a couple other ways.
if you downloaded it on your phone from the market, you simply long press your home screen and select widgets.
