    Default Video Calling

Will the Andriod OS be supporting something like video calling? I know in asia the cell phones have two cameras, one in the front next to the incoming speaker, and another on the back of the phone. The one on the front for video conferencing.

Companies like t-mobile are now soon offering 3g services, does that mean we will be able to make video calls to eachother?

I tried a search but was unable to find anything.

I'm not sure that T-Mobile has enough faith in their 3G infrastructure to officially support this just yet.

We can for sure see 3rd party apps, but it won't be an advertised feature of a T-Mobile phone for a while.

With my phone now, Tmobile Wing, i cannot use EDGE Internet connection while in a call. I wonder if you can do that with the G1

The problem would be that the camera is on the back.

I'm sure it's feasible, but only one person would be able to watch the other.

I agree with the comment above. Right now, I don't think that any company is offering this future. Even if this was offered in the plan, than the picture quality, and the speed of the video frames would be exteremely crapy. On the other hand, just like snoslicer8 said in the previous comment, there will be 3rd party apps comming out that might actually offer that future...

Hm, thanks for the quick replies. Its strange then how the mobile markets in Japan and Asia in general just have such a high level of advancement over us, i believe they had video conferencing for a while now haven't they?

One of the main features of a 3G network is that you can be on the phone and use data at the same time. You can not do this with EDGE, which is why you can't do video calling on EDGE.
