Warning! Music Player and Charging

This new years eve, I was listening to music on my G1 and charging it at the same time. After about 15+ minutes, the phone just turned off. I was unable to turn it back on. I removed the battery and tried many things and it was dead. No status light.

I called T-Mobile and they gave me other methods to try to get it to work but nothing helped. Luckily T-Mobile will send me a new one this week. Maybe the phone over heated??? I don't know. Just wanted to inform the android community. Happy New Year!

wow...that sucks...i charge and listen to music all the time though at work and have never had a problem.

Where did you have the phone while it was charging/playing? maybe ventilation had a role in it? I have a ghetto stand for the moment (wire mesh business card holder) until I find a good charging dock with audio output.

Yeah, I do the same thing at work and have done it for 8 hours at a time and it didn't have a problem. Sounds like a fluke.

I had it sitting on a table. No stand. I tried a different battery and it still didn't work. So it was definitely the phone.

I've had my phone on the charger while playing music and never ran into a problem. Sorry to hear you did though.

The phone over heats while charging, I have to take my cases off so that it doesn't smell.

Wow, I have never had that problem, and I have a hard plastic case and usually leave it charging for about 6 hours while I sleep! (Gonna start watching for that now, I guess)

I've listened to music without charging and had no problem. Hopefully it was only my phone. I still love my G1.. well my new one when I get it this week.

Yeah I've realized this also, I have the plastic case from T mobile, and When I use it and charge it at the same time, it overheats a lot.

And I just brought the USB and 3.5mm adapter from amazon, (came in today) and I can't wait to plug it in my whip!!!
