i just tried it on my phone and it worked.
Hey everyone,
I'm a web developer and tinkerer. I would like to make a web application (possibly applications...) specific to the Android platform, and have a test page up for everyone.
Please check out this page in both your regular browser (or, if you're geeky like me, browsers) and see if you get the message boxes. You should only see them within Android...here's to hoping anyway:

If this works for a majority of users, I can see a lot of games being developed soon... :P
Thanks in advance,

Sweet...one for one!! :P
Why not fire up the Android emulator and use that to determine HTTP_USER_AGENT strings?
I'm at work and can't install the emulator :P
Also...I'm more looking to make sure the javascript works. It's all ExtJS and I wasn't sure if it was going to be slow on the G1 or not...so I put it to the test...albeit a simple one. A more sophisticated test will be forthcoming...![]()
Well...prepare to help test
More details forthcoming...
First example will be Crazy Eights, so practice up!!![]()
let me start by saying i'm not trying to be negative... but may i ask why you are trying to develop web apps for android instead of native apps? I too am a web developer/programmer, but I cannot see how any web app will be able to provide good functionality to the end user. What are your thoughts?
Hey skaflyer,
Mostly it has to do that I'm more of a web developer than a regular programmer. In fact, I don't believe I've ever coded in Java though I have done some simple stuff in VB...if that gives you any indication of my programming experience
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to try to learn. I am actually installing Eclipse on my Ubuntu machine at home to try to get started writing native apps...and hope to be up to speed as quickly as a can. For now, however, I already know how to write web apps...and if I can get some simple javascript working on there, there are no limits to what I can make for the most part...at least for what I have in mind :P
Hope that answers your question![]()
Sounds good. Would like to see what you can create...
