Yes, I think it would be great, either cashe, or will give you an option to preload certain maps, so it will pop up right away. I guess after 3g coverage will increase, it wouldn't make a huge difference, except data use ...

yeah that would be great. Hell id be willing to give up half of my card space to maps.

Yeah i agree, im gonna need some maps with gps when traveling and im not going to get signal everywhere...

I'm not a programmer, and not sure if there is enough freedom in android SDK to do it, but that would be really cool software, it it will allow you to use preloaded maps, in case of low phone/data signal, more like stand alone navi works. plus it probably will use less battery as it's not going to load/transmit data all the time...
