yeah.. you can still surf the internet while on a call

This is due to 3G technology.

Since the G1 has a 3G radio, it can utilize 3G to surf the net, and the GSM radio to be on the phone.

However, if you are out of an area with 3G or WiFi coverage, and are using the EDGE/GPRS (GSM) radio to browse the web, you'll be unable to make a phone call (and vice-versa).

Yea you can do this on wi-fi also just in case you dont have 3g in your house or are somewhere with wi-fi
