So I am about to do a major car stereo install (remaining parts arrive today). Touch screen dvd, 2 amps (1600 watts), a sub and the whole nine yards.
I am looking for a good way to "install" the G1. Has anyone found a cradle for the car that allows you to charge and use the phone as a music player at the same time?
Right now I have a splitter that came with my Dash and the USB/headphone adapter but when I use it to charge and play music I get a lot of noise in the signal. Any help would be appreciated.
um i read that you can take a CD DECK for a car audio system that supports a USB plug in.... that will allow your phone to connect and send the music directly into your car CD DECK... controllable on screen and playable in the car speakers.... this should at the same time charrge your phone....
now wrt to a cradle of some sort not sure.... but search phandroid forums i think thats where i read a post on this... or xda-developers... maybe they have a thread..
good luck homie
use the cup holder lol that's what I do...it's free
are you using the BT streaming(soon to be) or are you planning on going over the USB connection to an aux in on the HU? I have found that when streaming the BT it sounds pretty bad, even at a high bit rate.
I would just suggest burning all your mp3's to a DVD and going that route. I have an external HD plugged into my HU. I havent listened to a CD in months.
oh yeah and i bought this to hold the G1.

I bought it because i can control the phone alot easier and see the road than if im holding it in my hand. Also im waiting for the real time GPS apps to come out so i can have it at eye level and use the GPS.
I have a USB on my deck but it does not seem to recognize the phone (or anything else for that matter) So right now I am using the USB/3.5 mm headphone adapter. Sounds good (better than my Ipod)
I am currently using the cup holder or my phone sits in my lap.
I use Imeem and the Stream Furious in the car a lot too. These music apps suck down the battery! So I need to find a way to play music and charge at the same time with out all the noise from the charger.
i do the same thing in my car, use 3.5mm in and a 3 in 1 adaptor to charge and listen, and yes i get feedback from the charger, or more accuarely its feedback from the charging system in the car (alternator) unfortunately theres not too much you can do about this you might try looking for a power filter for 12v i havent seen one designed cig plugs before but they have got to exsit
the reason why this does not happen with car av equiptment has these noise filters built into them, but as any av installer will tell you using low quailty RCA cables going to amplifiers can cause the same thing to happen all the time with a stereo esp if they run too close to other wiring in a car, the noise level can very from car to car though depending on their design
You can look into buying a dock like this one:

Integrate it to your cupholder and if you need a power source you can buy something like this for the USB;

do what i do... make a computer, put it in your trunk, do all the necessary power routing (extra battery in my case), have an in dash touch screen (running windows for ease of wireless connections), small bluetooth keyboard... computer has a 500gb harddrive, when i drive up to my house connect to wifi and i can sync my music etc... tether internet via a phone (not g1 obviously) etc...
lots of mobile possibilities... if you wanna wow people and have a comletely customizable system, this is the route to go
Buy the rumor, Sell the news.
i use the 3 in 1 adapter that i brought from this site and a fm transmitter by monster. works like a charm. i also got a vent holder by Grip-it that i got from best buy. just set it in the holder, plugin the 3 in 1 & transmitter, tune my radio to the station the transmitter is on and im good to go.
