First let me say I love my G1 for the hardware, hacking, browser, and OS. That being said...

I'd really like to know what the frack you "camera is great you just gotta know how to use it" people are smoking. I am a big G1 supporter but this camera sucks ass. PERIOD. Don't give me any crap about low light either.

I tried taking pics of my baby laying on our bed in broad daylight, patio doors open and light on full illumination and EVERY damn pic was blurry if my baby moved so much as a centimeter. Even the ones where she was still were blurred on the edges.

I tried with SnapPhoto Pro. Tried with prefocus on and off, burst mode, JPEG quality, white balance, you name it...Results? Suck suck suck and more suck.

Stupid POS camera. I mean come on, my no-frills cell phone from FIVE YEARS AGO has a better camera than this "iPhone killa".

The only decent pics I get is still shots in full daylight.

Frackin' HTC and Google screwed this thing up so bad you gotta wonder what they were smokin'…this phone had so much potential. Used to be a time you put something like this on the market half-assed you would get crucified and lose a lot of money.

Why the hell would they make a phone with such kick-ass hardware (dual core Qualcomm processor, hackable system memory expansion) and do stupid RETARDED WE JUST WANT TO FRUSTRATE YOU BY GIVING YOU ALMOST THE ULTIMATE PHONE crap like no 3.5mm jack, no video capture, no BT stereo, AND A CAMERA I WOULDN'T PAY 99 CENTS FOR AT A YARD SALE????? Huh??? GOOGLE??? HTC?? ANY OF YOU GENIUS ENGINEERS READING THIS????

I swear the stupidity of the way the G1 was semi-developed and released by HTC, Google, and TMobile too soon almost pisses me off to the point of getting my Sony Ericsson K800i 3.2 MP Cyber-shot phone back. That thing had a camera that takes pics comparable to our new Panasonic Lumix 8MP camera! Even a camera HALF as good as that would've been enough for the G1....dammit you idiots!!!

Guess consumers are just too stupid to care anymore.

Yeah, the camera is pretty crappy. Maybe "Faster Camera start-up and image capture" will help in 1.5...

Software can only improve so much, I don't think anything short of hardware can fix the focusing issues of the camera. The drivers for it could use some stability fixes for sure though.

Software controls the shutter speed, so if the shutter speed is increased then it would allow for moment while taking the picture some and in turn would look less blurry
