I live in Hampton Roads, or the Virginia Beach area of Virginia. We are the 33rd largest metropolitan area. Ok, so we aren't in the top 24, but we still want 3G. Does someone have a connection that can get a good/approximate/guestimate/ballpark when I will be able to surf with the big boys?

It may be because that area does not have as large of a T-Mobile network as the other areas. Also it might just be based on how many users they have in a particular area as well.
I don't know how much sharing there is among the carriers--obviously they share towers. But AT&T has 3G here, so one would think it's right around the corner for us. I ordered my phone anyway. I do travel a lot to cities that have 3G, so it will be worth it.

They are pushing this network out a lot faster than I imagined. Word is there still going nuts about getting it all up. Its only a matter of time.
Sounds like they are going down the list of largest cities and areas. So you'll probably be the 33rd place on the list.

i was very surprised that birmingham is getting 3g as quick as it is!
We do have a very large t-mobile service area.

I don't see why they wouldn't be right around the corner.
I live in VA Beach and my friends from T-mobile told me wait a couple more months. If you havent ordered your phone yet I think I might be the Only one in VA that has LOL.
I called T-mobile the yesterday to talk about 3G and they said it is already set up in Kansas City, MO. I was like really. she said yep. when you get your phone. you will be ready to roll. Too Excited!!!
